Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai are the shining stars in the awarding body’s APAC Top 10s. By Holly Graham.
Today, The Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards announced its Regional Top 10 Honourees for 2020, breaking down into five categories including APAC, Canada, Europe, Latin American and Caribbean, and Middle East and Africa.
Singapore scooped 12 nominations, followed by Hong Kong with nine nominations, Shanghai with five, Guangzhou, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur each with two and one nomination each for Tokyo, Taipei and Seoul.
One of Asia’s biggest honourees was Shingo Gokan’s SG Group, whose bars Speak Low (Shanghai), The SG Club (Tokyo) and The Odd Couple (Shanghai) all bagged a nod each, while Sober Company (Shanghai) scored two nominations, meaning all of SG Group’s bars were recognised.
Singapore’s Jigger & Pony group also were recognised across three of their bars, with Jigger & Pony, Caffe Fernet and newly opened Live Twice making the cut.
When it came to Best International Hotel Bars, Four Seasons came out on top with Bar Trigona (Kuala Lumpur), Caprice (Hong Kong) and Charles H (Seoul) making up three of the 10 on the list, where no bars outside of Asia featured.
Other notable nominees include Rosewood Hong Kong’s DarkSide, which was recognised for Best International Bar Team and Best International Hotel Bar, as well as Hope & Sesame (Guangzhou), who also scored a nod for Best International Bar Team and Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar.
