What it is The superstar Copenhagen brewer known for its collaborations this time combines with highly-regarded contemporary Chinese painter Liu Xiaodong for a session IPA. The reason for this is not just to ensure cool label art, which it has, but to raise money for the Danish-Chinese art institution the Faurschou Foundation. Beijing-based Liu is known for painting en plein air (art-speak for outdoors), hence, you would assume, the name of this beer brewed at The Proef Brewery in Belgium.
What it tastes like Pouring straw with a head that’s as bold as the first 20 minutes of a foam party, aromas of elderflower and grapeftruit soda with hints of lime. It’s a fruity number on the palate too: orange blossom, bitter orange and shades of lavender and violet before a flash of hops. Balanced, with a pleasant mouthfeel.
