What it is A blond ale with a twist, Deception is an apt moniker if you taste this without reading the bottle too closely. The SoCal brewer adds coconut and lime to its Czech saaz hops and 2-row and Munich malts to create a taste reminiscent of south of the border and the doctored beers favoured in Mexico.
What it tastes like The nose is transportative – taking you to the Caribbean with coconut and lime joined by the tamarind (HP sauce), spiced milk and thyme of the region’s kitchens. The coconut yields to the lime on the tongue for a breezy thirst-quencher that would pair perfectly with seafood. Enjoy it as it comes or consider making a Michelada. Refreshing in every sense.
