India enters the list for the first time since 2010 as Asia takes 16 places this year. By Holly Graham.
Connaught Bar (London) ranks number one in The World’s Best Bars 2021 for the second year in a row, while Hong Kong’s COA – currently number one on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list – takes the prize for Best Bar in Asia at number seven, up one place from last year.
For the first time since 2010, India features on the list with Sidecar (New Delhi) coming in at 47. Singapore was the city with the most entries globally, with six bars including Jigger & Pony, Manhattan, Atlas, re-entry Tippling Club and new entries with No Sleep Club and MO Bar.
Along with COA, Hong Kong counted Darkside a new entry at 49 and Quinary reentered the list at 50. Shanghai’s entries feature Sober Company, as well as two new entries in Epic and Union Trading Company. Tokyo’s SG Club and Bar Benfiddich made the cut, and after a debut last year Seoul’s Charles H climbed seven places to 42.
Other special awards saw A Bar With Shapes For A Name (London) proprietor Remy Savage is named this year’s Industry Icon, while Thunderbolt (Los Angeles) was named One To Watch and Lab 22 (Cardiff) scooped the inaugural Best Cocktail Menu title.
