The new annual list will compile 50 young people shaping the future of gastronomy across the globe. By Holly Graham.

The World’s 50 Best Bars and Restaurants has launched a new initiative called 50 Next, which will be announced on February 22, 2021. The purpose of the list is to celebrate young people in various areas of f&b, including the bar industry.

That means anyone from bartenders to wine makers, craft beer and spirits producers, drink writers, sommeliers, distributors, researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, tech creators, scientists non-profit workers, farmers, consumers, designers, activists, chefs, fishers, restaurateurs, food writers and more can be nominated. Nominations are open to anyone across the globe from now until November 12, 2020.

The list – which will not be ranked – is designed to inspire and connect young people who are pushing boundaries, addressing challenges head on and have achieved – or making progress toward – a goal.

Applications and nominations for 50 Next are open until November 12, 2020. For more information and to apply or nominate, visit theworlds50best.com/50next
