World’s 50 Best Bars announces details ahead of its virtual 2020 ceremony. By Holly Graham.

In the same fashion as Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020, this year’s World’s 50 Best Bars is going virtual and will be announced on November 5, 3pm UK time (for timings across Asia, please see below) on The World’s 50 Best Bars Facebook page and 50 Best Bars TV YouTube channel, with coverage and afterthoughts on DRiNK as usual.

In the run up to the main event, special award announcements will also be announced on 50 Best’s channels and DRiNK, on the below dates:

  • Michter’s Art of Hospitality – October 8
  • Campari One To Watch – October 15
  • Altos Bartenders’ Bartender  – October 22
  • The World’s 50 Best Bars 51-100 – October 29

This year, 50 Best has made a number of changes. As usual, the voting panel is made up of over 540 anonymous industry experts, but The Academy is also 50/50 gender balanced, with 20 Academy Chairs in 20 new geographic regions, and the voting process and results are now independently adjudicated by Deloitte.

The announcement will start at 3pm UK time, with the following times across Asia:

7.30pm: India

8.30pm: Myanmar

9pm: Thailand/Vietnam/Indonesia/Cambodia

10pm: HK/China/Malaysia/Singapore/Philippines/Taiwan

11pm: Japan/Korea
