Singapore’s heavy hitters take home three awards between them at this year’s Spirited Awards. By Holly Graham

When Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards 2019 announced its Top 10 nominees, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul and Tokyo represented Asia’s bar community. Nominees were then whittled down to the Top 4s, and only Singapore remained but tonight in New Orleans, the Lion City took home three awards at the glitzy ceremony.

Atlas bagged both Best International Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Spirits Selection for its collection of over a thousand gins, while Manhattan took home the plate for Best International Hotel Bar. Both bars were recognised in those categories last year, but didn’t make it to the top, so we’re proud to see them finally take home the crystal plates and represent Asia on the American stage. Last year, the only award for Asia based bars and bartenders went to Joe Schofield, who won Best International Bartender while he was at Singapore’s Tippling Club.

A special shout out goes to our Aussie neighbours, whose Maybe Sammy from Sydney won Best New International Cocktail Bar for their fun “hotel bar without a hotel bar” concept, inspired by Rat Pack era jazz.
